South Milwaukee Heritage Days Parade

Bembé Drum & Dance has been invited for the second year to be in the parade! The route starts at 8th and Milwaukee Avenues, heads west on Milwaukee to 16th Avenue, then turns north before ending at South Milwaukee Lionsfest

This local parade is funded 100% by donations, we cannot do put on this parade without the help of our local community and generous donations from our buisness partners & sponsors.

The parade committe works year round to ensure the community gets the best parade with the coolest units and honors veterans, local political leaders, children's activites and groups, local buisnesses, marching bands, clowns, and everyone in between. More than 100 units will take to the heart of South Milwaukee on Milwaukee Avenue - to provide one of the best FREE entertainment events of the summer!

South Milwaukee Human Concerns will also be collecting non perishable food items along the parade route, please help them out by bring non perishable item.

Bembé Drum & Dance at Alice's Garden

Please join Bembé Drum & Dance for an evening in Milwaukee's beautiful and sacred Alice's Garden. Also, enjoy the night market and yoga prior. We invite community to bring a drum or skirt/lapa and your dancing feet! This event is FREE and FAMILY FRIENDLY. Parking is free and accessible surrounding the garden.

Bembé's Journey the Black Atlantic / Viaje del Atlántico Negro

Milwaukee Public Theatre's Bembé Drum & Dance, in collaboration with Milwaukee's intergenerational guest artists, present Bembé's Final Showcase on June 1 at Latino Arts Auditorium at 7pm.

Performances of West African Lamban, Macru, Brazilian Samba, Cuban Rumba, Puerto Rican Bomba, Colombian Cumbias, and New York City Hip Hop and Salsa with over 75 Milwaukee youth performing pieces with the support of professional dancers, musicians and vocalists.

Milwaukee Public Theatre's Bembé Drum & Dance, in collaboration with Milwaukee's intergenerational guest artists, present Journey the Atlantic on May 18 at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts Auditorium Latino Arts at 7pm.

Performances by Bembé drummers and dancers from Roosevelt Middle School and Bruce-Guadalupe Community Schools, Ton Ko Thi Children's Ensemble, Salsabrositas, Carlos Adames Group, and Chicago's Bomba Master, Mary Alduen.

Come to enjoy performances of West African Lamban, KuKu, Macru, Brazilian Samba, Cuban Rumba, Puerto Rican Bomba, Colombian Puya/Bullerengue, and New York City Hip Hop and Salsa.

This is an all star line up! Family Friendly and FREE!

Presented in collaboration with Latino Arts, Inc., Bembé's Latino Carnival takes the all-ages audience on an ethno-musical and dance journey through the Carnival traditions of Brazil and Cuba. With over 60 Milwaukee youth artists and some of Milwaukee's top Latin professional musicians and dancers together, don't miss this non-stop and family-friendly Carnival feast of live rhythms, movements and spirit. 

Guest Professional Artists: Carlos Adames and the Carlos Adames Group Musicians, Tony Ayala, Elias Holman, Bony Plog-Benavides, Imani Jalil, Darele Busquera, and Danny Balderas and the Salsabrositas youth Latin dance ensemble.
